In January 2012, at the age of 38, I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma. Like many others who have received similar news, I was shocked, upset and really angry. Really, really angry. How dare cancer interrupt my life?!
And so I haven't let it. It's been a long and difficult road but after chemo, lumpectomy, mastectomy and protracted reconstruction, I am now 1.5 years in remission with a fantastic new rack. ;-)
However, not everyone is as lucky as me - which is why we need to raise money for even more research. Sadly, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer of some kind. So think of ten women that you know. Go on. And then remember that at least one of them will potentially face treatment for this far too common disease.
So please dig deep and sponsor me, and my lovely friends, who are planning to complete the 13-mile Moonwalk on Saturday 10 May. Every penny / pound is gratefully received.
Thank you for your support.
